Aid to Orphans of Madagascar is a bare bones, non-profit organization that strives to bring hope and opportunity to struggling Malagasy children and families. Working in Madagascar’s capital city of Antananarivo since 2000, AOM has identified some of the most needy organizations and offered help with the challenges of hunger and poverty. We are currently working with a center for street children and an orphanage. We take pride in the fact that we have just one paid position, a facilitator in Madagascar, so donations to AOM go directly for essentials like the purchase of lentils and rice, pencils and books, and lessons on a sewing machine. A child given a bowl of food has time to learn instead of foraging for food on the street. A mother, given some training and a small business grant, can open a tiny stand and send her children to school. |

| AOM provides 45 children with 5 lunches per week and an all day preschool program that introduces literacy skills to the family. Because they have a safe place for their children to stay during the day, the mothers are now are able to go outside this impoverished district to work in higher paying jobs. more..... | Tangaina Orphanage is home to 40 children ages 3 and up. When we first started assisting the children living at Tangaina, there was never enough food, bedding or time for education. The children were hungry and had to spend their time finding food instead of going to school. Your donations allow us to provide rice, meat, vegetables and fruit to grow healthy bodies and minds. more.... |
